County Longford is situated in the middle of Ireland and belongs to the province of Leinster. It covers an area of 1,091 kmē and is one of Ireland's smallest counties. The production of oats & potatoes as well as the cattle & sheep rearing are only some of the agricultural activities. Longford offers beautiful scenery with lake, bog, pasture and wetland. The highest point is Carn Clonhugh with 916 feet. In general the northern part of the county is hilly, whereas the southern part is low-lying.
